You’re ready to remodel your kitchen or maybe even a bathroom, but you’re stuck. You can’t seem to decide whether to hop on the latest color trend or just stick with plain ol’ white walls. As you contemplate which color scheme works best for your space, our team at Hearn Construction, Inc. recommends that you take a second look at that neutral palette. In fact, we’ll give you three reasons why neutrals (whites, grays, and beiges) often make the best remodeling choices.

Neutral Color Scheme

1. Offer Unlimited Options

When we say “white” or “gray,” you may think “boring.” However, you may be surprised—perhaps even a little overwhelmed—at the thousands and thousands of neutral variations you can find out there. You can choose to go neutral but still have that edgy look with a slate gray, or if you’re wanting more of a farmhouse look, choose a warm white. The options are endless.

2. Stand the Test of Time

We love the latest color trends as much as the next person. But if the 1960s and 1970s taught us anything, it’s that those modern colors will eventually turn old. Those golden yellows or pea greens will run their course, leaving you yet again with an outdated space. Neutrals, on the other hand, tend to be classic colors that won’t age as quickly as bolder color choices.

3. Promote a Calm Environment

We’re not going to go deep into color theory, but the fact is that neutrals are colors that occur in nature. By mixing neutrals with other earth elements (wood, plants, and so on), you can create a very calming atmosphere in your home. They don’t tend to elicit the same strong responses as a bright red or school bus yellow might.
