Has your business been growing and expanding, and therefore making your space feel like it’s bursting at the seams? Perhaps you own a retail business and you’re running out of room for your inventory. Or, you operate in an office setting and you no longer have enough room for all of your employees. Whatever your situation, Hearn Construction, Inc. is here to help you figure out if some simple remodeling can ease your space problems or if it’s time to pack up and move.

Consider What Changes Can Be Made

If you like your current space, it might be worth it to do a little renovating to be able to stay. Your employees may enjoy their current commute, parking situation, etc. and not want to move. If that is the case, we encourage you to meet with a general contractor to discuss your options. Often, a space and be redesigned and reconfigured to meet the needs of your business without having to move. You’d be surprised how much space you will gain by reconfiguring your office to use the space more efficiently.

Consider the Level of Disruption

The next thing to consider is how much disruption you and your employees can handle while still keeping your business running. It may seem like relocating is more disruptive than remodeling, but that may not be true if a large remodel is needed. If the work needed is extensive, you should be prepared for weeks of construction equipment and noise in your space. You need to weigh the pros and cons to make sure your employees and business can still thrive under such conditions. Consider also if a temporary relocation could work for your business as a vacant space will be easier and faster to renovate.

Weigh the Pros and Cons

Finding an ideal location for your business is tricky, so if you’re in a space you love, it’s likely worth it to remodel to fit your needs rather than relocate. Relocation involves negotiating a new lease, nurturing a relationship with a new landlord, and perhaps paying a higher rent. Relocation makes sense for some business owners, while renovating your current space makes sense for others. If you fall into the latter category, Hearn Construction can help.
